From November 18 to 22, the 9th National University Rowing Championships were successfully held at the Water Sports Center in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. Our university’s student athletes demonstrated tenacious fighting spirit and strived for excellence, winning an excellent record of four gold, two silver, and two bronze medals across eight events, including the 1000m (Double Sculls, Quadruple Sculls, Mixed Quadruple Sculls, and Eight with Coxswain) and 500m (Double Sculls, Quadruple Sculls, Mixed Quadruple Sculls, and Eight with Coxswain).
The competition was organized by the China Student Sports Federation, with over 800 student athletes from nearly 50 universities, including Sun Yat-sen University and Nanjing University, participating.
It is reported that since the establishment of NYNU’s university rowing team, team members have trained hard alongside their academic studies, winning gold and silver medals in national and provincial sports competitions and qualifying to represent China in international competitions. With the spirit of teamwork and striving for excellence, the sports faculty and students have made the national flag fly in international arenas and frequently raised the university flag on the championship podiums of national and provincial competitions, earning the university a positive social reputation and making sports contributions to the university’s two major development goals of “renaming as a university and becoming a doctoral degree-granting unit” .
