On March 24, Distinguished Professor and Doctoral Supervisor Du Wenfeng from Henan University was invited by the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture to deliver an academic lecture titled “Generative AI-Driven Intelligent Design and 3D Printing of Spatial Structural Nodes” in the lecture hall of the West Campus Library. The lecture was chaired by Xu Jun, Dean of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture. Faculty members and student representatives from undergraduate and postgraduate programs attended the lecture.
Professor Du provided an in-depth exploration of innovative applications of AI deep learning, topological optimization, and 3D printing technologies in spatial structural node design. He elaborated on how generative intelligent design methods can overcome traditional challenges such as low efficiency and poor adaptability in node design. Through practical case studies, he analyzed the transformative impact of 3D printing technology on the construction industry.
During the Q&A session, participants actively engaged with Professor Du on topics including the engineering application boundaries of generative AI, the disruptive potential of 3D printing, the synergistic development of intelligent design and sustainable construction. Professor Du provided expert responses to each question, fostering a dynamic academic exchange.
In his closing remarks, Dean Xu Jun highlighted that the lecture offered both theoretical depth and practical engineering insights, paving new pathways for the future of intelligent construction. He encouraged faculty and students to leverage this academic exchange as a springboard for research in smart construction, advancing the civil engineering discipline toward intelligent and sustainable development.
