From August 29 to 31, the live final of the 2025 Henan Education System Teaching Skills Competition—co-organized by the Henan Provincial Federation of Trade Unions and the Henan Provincial Department of Education—was held at Luoyang Institute of Science and Technology. Following rigorous selection, including internal university evaluations and provincial preliminary rounds (which involved teaching video assessments), three teachers from our university—Wang Yile, Xu Xiumei, and Li Ting—stood out. They advanced to the top 20 in the university-level liberal arts, sciences, and economics & management categories respectively, thereby qualifying for the provincial live final. In the final round, all three teachers were awarded first prizes in their respective categories (liberal arts, sciences, and economics & management).
Since the competition launched, the University Trade Union, in collaboration with the Academic Affairs Office, has centered its efforts on the fundamental task of “fostering virtue through education”. Adhering to the philosophy of “mastery of course teaching”, the union and the office have aimed to further polish teachers’ basic teaching skills and enhance their innovative teaching capabilities. They formulated a comprehensive selection plan through meticulous organization and careful planning. Various colleges also proactively invited experts to provide teaching guidance and pre-competition training for participating teachers. The competing teachers prepared diligently and dedicated themselves fully; they not only demonstrated their professional competence and distinctive style during the competition but also broadened their horizons and accumulated valuable experience.
This teaching competition has provided a vital platform for our university’s teachers to showcase their teaching abilities and style on a high-profile provincial stage. It reflects the university’s long-standing commitment to strengthening teachers’ ethical standards and the teaching ethos, as well as refining the basic teaching skills of young faculty members. Taking this teaching skills competition as a catalyst, the university will further encourage young teachers to update their educational philosophies and master modern teaching methods. Efforts will be made to build a high-quality, professional teaching team that is morally upright, professionally proficient, structurally balanced, and dynamic—thereby making a positive contribution to the high-quality development of our university.
