[Lecture] Intelligent Diagnosis and Trenchless Rehabilitation of Urban Underground Drainage Pipelines
Lecturer: Fang Hongyuan (Zhengzhou University)
Date: March 23, 2025 (Sunday)
Time: 8:30-11:30 a.m.
Venue: Lecture Hall, 1st Floor, West Campus Library
Report Content: China’s urban underground pipeline network spans over 4 million kilometers, encompassing water supply, drainage, gas, and heating systems. With aging infrastructure, prevalent issues like leaks, corrosion, and cracks are causing severe consequences including water resource wastage, polluted waterways, and road collapses - resulting in significant economic losses and safety hazards. The complex underground environment and varying pipe quality render traditional passive maintenance approaches inadequate. This lecture will address critical scientific and technical challenges in intelligent diagnosis and trenchless rehabilitation, presenting a comprehensive R&D framework covering: defect diagnosis, performance evaluation, structural reinforcement, emergency response. The research holds vital importance for ensuring operational safety of urban lifelines, advancing pipeline industry technologies, cultivating interdisciplinary professionals, and safeguarding public safety and property.
Introduction to the Speaker: Professor Fang Hongyuan, Doctoral Supervisor at Zhengzhou University, serves as Executive Director of the Yellow River Laboratory (Zhengzhou University) and Deputy Director of the Provincial-Ministerial Collaborative Innovation Center for Underground Engineering Disaster Prevention. Specializing in non-destructive testing and rapid rehabilitation technologies for roads and underground pipelines, he has led 6 national research projects including NSFC grants, holds seventy two patents, and has published over three hundred EI/SCI-indexed papers with 2 monographs.
