On the morning of September 30, NYNU held the 2025 Freshmen Military Training Parade and Opening Ceremony at the Main Campus and Xichuan Campus. University Party Committee Secretary Zhang Baofeng and President Luo Yongsong led the university leadership to attend the events. Zhang Zhiqiang, Member of the Standing Committee of Nanyang Municipal Party Committee and Party Secretary of Xichuan County, and Guo Guangquan, Deputy Party Secretary and County Mayor of Xichuan, attended the opening ceremony at Xichuan Campus. All members of the military training regiment, heads of schools and administrative offices, and all 2025 freshmen participated in the activities. The events were presided over by Vice President Liu Jinjiang.

Guo Guangquan extended a warm welcome to the first batch of teachers and students stationed at Xichuan Campus. He emphasized that Xichuan County is committed to providing the best land plots and optimal resources to create a favorable learning and living environment. He encouraged students to “aim high while keeping feet firmly on the ground”, integrating personal growth into the trend of the times, and writing their own brilliant chapters with sweat and wisdom.

During the military training parade, all companies comprehensively demonstrated the results and spiritual outlook of the military training through sonorous steps, orderly formations, vigorous movements, and high morale.

Following the parade, Liu Honglin, Deputy Party Secretary of the university, announced the commendation decisions for outstanding collectives and individuals in the military training.

Meng Jingya, Deputy Party Secretary of the university, presented banners to the outstanding collectives in the comprehensive military training evaluation.

Liu Shouyong, Secretary of the University Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervisory Commissioner, along with Vice Presidents Xiong Xinzhong and Leng Feng, presented certificates of honor to outstanding instructors, outstanding counselors, and military training pace-setters respectively.

At the opening ceremony, freshmen representatives Zhang Yi and Ding Shuwen expressed their aspirations and plans for the brand-new university life. Graduate student representatives Song Chunyu and Wang Han shared their academic interests and pursuits. Senior student representatives Ding Kaixuan and Yu Miaojie passed on their growth experiences to the new students. The freshmen’s anticipation, the passion for exploration, and the resonance of experience intertwined into a moving symphony of youthful relay at the ceremony.

Faculty representative Huang Xin from the School of Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering encouraged freshmen to actively integrate into campus life, adapt to academic requirements, plan their futures early, study diligently, practice industriously, and forge infinite possibilities for youth through hard work and sweat.

Zhang Baofeng congratulated the new students at the opening ceremony. He introduced the university’s development history and educational advantages, noting that the entire university is actively implementing the spirit of the Fourth Party Congress of the university, anchoring the two major goals of “renaming as a university and becoming a doctoral degree-granting unit”, and striving to build a high-level normal university with solid teacher education foundations and distinctive applied characteristics. He expressed hope that students would take pride in being “Wolong Students”, comprehend the university spirit of “Extensiveness, Profundity, Sagacity, and Excellence”, uphold the motto “Rich in Knowledge and Tenacious in Truth, Earnest in Practice and Unremitting in Self-renewal”, and promote the ethos “Diligent and Rigorous, Harmonious and Enterprising”, setting sail on new youthful journeys. He encouraged students to aim high with global perspective, closely connect personal growth with national development; immerse in knowledge with rigorous scholarship, temper solid skills through continuous accumulation; integrate knowledge with practice through dedicated action, turning dreams into reality; cultivate character and moral integrity, striving to become new-generation talents capable of undertaking national rejuvenation.
